‘From people I speak to’: David Ornstein shares what he’s now hearing about Sheikh Jassim and Tottenham
Sheikh Jassim won’t be purchasing Manchester United, despite endless rumors.
At this moment, the Qatari has withdrawn from the battle to acquire Manchester United, and it appears that Jim Ratcliffe will instead join the Old Trafford ownership group as a new minority partner.
Naturally, it doesn’t happen frequently for one of the wealthiest people in the world to not get his way, and there has been much discussion about whether the Sheikh will now pursue another Premier League team.
Although David Ornstein stated on Five that he has heard from industry insiders that Sheikh Jassim will not be buying Tottenham anytime soon, Daniel Levy recently made it clear that he would welcome investment at the club.
Sheikh Jassim not buying Tottenham
Ornstein revealed his knowledge of the Spurs’ upcoming season.
“If they do go again, they don’t expect that to be Tottenham, according to the individuals I speak to in the industry. I wouldn’t place much attention on that one unless things change, which they do in this industry, Ornstein said.
Where next?
Although it seems unlikely that the Qataris will buy Tottenham anytime soon, Sheikh Jassim will undoubtedly still be looking for a soccer team.
A prospective investment like this isn’t something you just give up on. He is a very wealthy billionaire who obviously desires the prestige that comes with owning a prestigious club.
It sounds like Tottenham won’t be involved, but there are plenty of other fish in the sea, both in the Premier League and elsewhere.
As the ever-evolving landscape of football ownership continues to change, Sheikh Jassim is undoubtedly a somebody we should be keeping an eye on.
