Batter than Kane: Pundit praises Spurs youngster for prolific display
Spurs youngster makes history at Tottenham Stadium in prolific display
Will Lankshear scored an 11-minute hat-trick today in a 6-0 win for the Spurs Under-21 side, marking the fastest three goal haul for any player since the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened its doors back in 2019.
The postponement of Chelsea’s match meant that the senior team of Tottenham had the weekend off, therefore supporters of the Lilywhites would have been itching to watch some football at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Anyone who watched Spurs Under-21 play their rivals from Fleetwood Town this afternoon in the Premier League Cup was in for quite a show, as the young players put on a devastating display of offensive football to win 6-0.
Lankshear shines in record-breaking display
The young Spurs team advances to the knockout tournament’s quarterfinals, but Will Lankshear, the star of the show, stole the show with an outstanding first-half hat-trick.
The goals scored by Lankshear in the 28th, 33rd, and 39th minutes are the “fastest hat-trick to be scored at our N17 home since the venue opened in 2019,” according to the club’s website.
Yago Santiago, Nile John, and Dane Scarlett all had goals in between Lankshear’s, but Jamie Donley was the one who came closest to taking the spotlight away from the goal scorers.
Ange Postecoglou will have enough to consider after seeing the academy graduate, who has been a member of the first team squad this season, record four assists today, including all three for Lankshear.
Wayne Burnett, the Under-21 coach, expressed his satisfaction at the victory. We played some really wonderful football at times; I thought we were outstanding and scored some really nice goals. We also won, which was well deserved. We had discussed coming to our amazing stadium to demonstrate our skills, and we have done just that.
“I was happy with our performance, but I was also happy with our application and work ethic. The supporters present today should have left satisfied after witnessing the goals and realizing that there are some up-and-coming young players in our squad, of whom they should be proud.
This Under-21 team is playing fantastically so far this season, and today’s goals were truly exceptional. Our current crop of young players is really intriguing, and Jamie Donley in particular proved today that he is more than prepared for regular first-team action.
