GOOD NEWS: Stars from CELTIC makes Celtic proud off the pitch
Celtic and Rangers stars come together for special Glasgow event in aid of charity
Stars from the Rangers and Celtics are joining forces for a unique event in Glasgow to support a foundation that spreads awareness of a terrible genetic skin ailment.
On Thursday, March 21, The Great Divide will take place at the William Street Hilton in favor of DEBRA, a nonprofit organization that combats epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
DEBRA Vice President Graeme Souness will be there to ensure fair play as sports broadcaster and DEBRA ambassador Emma Dodds hosts a night of fun, Q&As with the stars, sporting stories and much more with special guests Chris Sutton, Scott Brown, Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd.
And Emma, the presenter, is aware that she will have her hands full dealing with a boisterous audience on both sides as well as a number of strong-willed guests on stage.
“I’m not sure how I will keep them under control, but if I manage to do so, I’ll let you know,” Emma responded.
Although it’s somewhat daring, the guys who are coming are a lot of fun and have plenty of experience to keep everyone occupied all night.
“I’ve done it before on TV, but on stage that obviously adds a different element, so it might be tough to keep them under control.
I’m not sure how well it will be managed, but I believe that many of the visitors may be wanting for it to get out of control.
It will all be done with much joy and good spirits, I’m sure. It should be a lot of fun, and I can guess that all four of them will be trying to poke fun at the others.
Speaking their language is necessary because the football dinners I’ve organized have had raucous attendees on occasion.
“I hope this DEBRA one turns out to be a little more sophisticated than that, but you never know.”
“I’ll need to be ready for anything that could come up, including the audience, visitors, and the four panelists I have up on stage.”
Emma is certain that the current SPL challenge will add extra spice, and she is inviting fans to bring questions for their heroes or villains.
“With how close the Scottish Premiership is right now, it should be a very interesting night,” she remarked.
“I believe the tone of this dinner might have been slightly different a few months ago, when Celtic was leading and Rangers was far behind.”
Given that both of these teams are very evenly matched on the field, I think all four of the experts will be ready for a little more banter, which always makes it a little more enjoyable.
“Regardless matter whose side of the split you are on, you may joke about a little while your team is winning and the other team is losing.
“Hopefully, the supporters who attend to witness this will share similar sentiments. They will undoubtedly be knocked down a peg or two if they aren’t.
“Come prepared with your jokes and banter; we enjoy a little floor sledging from time to time.
It is known that certain attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions; however, they will need to prepare their queries in advance.
“There will be an opportunity to ask questions of those on stage, so if there is anything in particular you would like to ask, think about it before the event and prepare it in advance.”
Kris Boyd wants supporters of both clubs to support DEBRA and is anticipating an exciting and heated debate.
“I always support as many good causes and charities as I can,” the man declared. Because EB is such a horrible disorder, DEBRA in particular really resonated. Thus, it was a joy to lend assistance to this deserving cause and occasion.
“I would urge everyone to join forces with DEBRA in their endeavor to increase public awareness.
“On the evening, you can anticipate lots of football conversation, jokes, and hopefully more heated arguments between Chris Sutton and myself.
“I’m excited for the evening and catching up with the guys who will be there; I promise a fun and hilarious night.”
And, for once, his former sparring partner Chris Sutton concurs wholeheartedly! However, we have a good feeling that they won’t agree on anything that night.
“For me at least, it’s crucial to help worthy causes whenever we can. Furthermore, DEBRA is an amazing organization whose efforts to aid children in excruciating suffering are truly remarkable.
“These youngsters are finally discovering some hope, so we must work even harder to support them.
“This event is a lighthearted night enjoying the rivalry, the game, and the stars of Celtic and Rangers, of course it’s for an important cause.”
There are still some seats available at £1700 for a table of 10, and tickets are available now.
There will be a Q&A session with the guests, a three-course dinner, wine on the table, and additional entertainment during the evening.
