Son delivers praise for one Tottenham’s player as the two look to continue scoring
In the captain’s absence, Richarlison delivered an incredible string of performances, and now the pair will try and keep their good form going.
Speaking with Spursplay, the winger talked about his return from national team duty and specifically noted the brilliant performances from Richarlison over the past few months when asked about their proximity in the golden boot race:
“Why not give him a golden boot, as I hope he can? He’s performing fantastically for the group. He undoubtedly had a difficult year, but he is without a doubt the ninth-best striker in Brazil.”
It is undoubtedly true that Richy has changed drastically in appearance during the last three months since recovering from surgery:
He had a few physical problems, and I constantly encouraged him to attempt to heal them since they are worthwhile. I was in a similar predicament as him. As a colleague, I want to support him as much as I can because he’s stepped up beautifully, and why not? He must have faith that he can take home the golden boot.
With Son’s 12 goals and Richarlison’s 10, the two players have worked their way into joining the list of the top-the league’s eight top scorers. This year, they have scored a lot of goals, and they have the backing of players on the entire field.
With three goals apiece from summer additions Brennan Johnson and James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski presently leads the team in goals scored.
It’s safe to assume that every player will feel pressure to keep scoring goals, every single week. But now that they’re both completely recovered, their combined presence and newly formed rapport on the field should allow them to feed off each other and, ideally, add assists to their tally as well.
