‘It’s a pity’ – Dragusin’s agent admits one regret about January transfer to Tottenham
Agent Florin Manea of Radu Dragusin has acknowledged that he harbors a tiny sense of remorse for not being able to sell the center-back to Napoli earlier this month, since he has a fondness for the current Serie A champions.
Dragusin was acquired by Tottenham last month after they defeated Bayern Munich in the competition. Indeed, according to certain sources, Thomas Tuchel personally called the Romanian player several times to persuade him to relocate to Bavaria, but the player ultimately decided to join the North London club.
The 22-year-old acknowledged that the Bundesliga’s top teams had targeted him when he signed with Spurs, but he also stated that he believed that moving to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be the best decision for him to make at this point in his career.
A little more than a week ago, Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis disclosed that, although Spurs had made a higher offer for the center back last month, the player was adamant on moving to the Premier League team (Area Napoli).
Radu Dragusin’s agent wanted him to join Napoli
Now that Manea has revealed more about Napoli’s attempts to sign Dragusin, he acknowledges that he regrets not being able to deal with the Partenopei.
The agent for the Tottenham player stated to Radio CRC, as cited by Tutto Juve: “De Laurentiis was prepared to seal the deal; he presented the offer, and they were nearly on par with the others; however, money was not a factor.”
Had that been the case, he would have accepted Bayern’s higher offer. With this feeling in mind, Dragusin made the decision to visit Tottenham.
I had a positive impression of Mr. De Laurentiis since he was so courteous. My idol is Maradona, and my heart belongs to Napoli.
“In the future, I hope to work with Napoli on a transaction. I’m a little bit of a Napoli fan, so it’s unfortunate that things didn’t work out this way, but it wasn’t a horrible offer from them.
