Brighton vs Tottenham team news: Surprise absentee as injury problems seemingly worsen.
Three key players are missing from the Brighton squad at Tottenham Hotspur – with one coming as a surprise to fans.
Goalie Jason Steele gets the start, and Kaoru Mitoma is back for the team along with Adam Lallana, Danny Welbeck, and Pervis Estupinan.
Due to hamstring and foot injuries, respectively, Bart Verbruggen and Evan Ferguson are benched. Jack Hinshelwood is also out.
One unexpected absence from the team is Igor Julio, who is not present at all. It’s unknown right now if he’s hurt or not accessible for any other reason.
Roberto De Zerbi, the Albion manager, is also absent today since he has been punished for a number of bookings.
He had dental work done, but he hasn’t traveled to North London.
During the Friday (February 9) pre-game press conference, his backup, Andrea Maldera, addressed the press.
“Joao Pedro unfortunately has an injury in the hamstring and he cannot play tomorrow,” said Maldera.
“He needs another scan; he had one a few days ago. We don’t want to take a chance because we don’t know how many weeks he will be absent.”
The 18-year-old needs surgery for a stress fracture of the foot, according to The Athletic. The duration of Hinshelwood’s absence from action is “unclear.”
