Ange Postecoglou says ‘majestic’ Tottenham player to feature in action v Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Spurs captain Son Heung-min is “definitely” ready to start on Saturday.
Speaking to football.london on Friday, the Tottenham manager also said that Yves Bissouma is fit after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Son returned from the Asian Cup and is back at Spurs after South Korea was eliminated by Jordan on Tuesday in the semifinals.
The 31-year-old returned to Hotspur Way on Thursday after leading his country in every minute of the tournament, which included two knockouts that required extra time.
It’s never definite if players who have just returned from international duty will play right away or if they will need to get a little more rest.
On the other hand, Postecoglou claims that Son and Bissouma are both eager to move.
“Sonny and Biss, without a doubt,” Postecoglou said in response to the question of who of the returning players would start. “They had good training.
Giovanni put in a full week of training, but he has clearly missed a significant amount of football, so we’ll need to evaluate how he is and decide whether to give him another week or not.
Great news as Son Heung-min available to start for Tottenham
Before leaving for Qatar in early January, Son made 20 Premier League games for Spurs, scoring 12 goals and dishing out five assists.
The return of the “majestic” forward to Tottenham is greatly appreciated as they want to improve upon their recent 4–0 record in all competitions. He has been sorely missed.
Postecoglou’s team position right now is excellent, in fact. With the return of Sarr, Bissouma, and Son from international duty, he can now call upon them, and the previous injury situation has significantly improved.
On Saturday, Spurs and Brighton will kick off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 3 p.m.
