Sad news; Three key players injured
Three injuries deal a blow to Millwall as important players miss their FA Cup third-round match against Leicester City.
On New Year’s Day, Lions club captain Hutchinson scored the game-winning goal against Bristol City, but he was forced to sit out the Foxes’ visit because of a calf issue.
Wallace (groin) and Norton-Cuffy (knee), who is on loan from Arsenal, will also be ineligible for selection.
After missing a few of the Christmas fixtures due to a hamstring strain, Wes Harding resumed training on Thursday.
Joe Edwards, the head coach of Millwall, stated, “Shaun, Murray, and Brooke will all be out of the Leicester game.” “I believe they will be absent for a few weeks.
Hutchy’s is probably going to be a little bit longer than Murray and Brooke’s out of the three. None of them seem very significant to me.
“The expense of the accumulation of fixtures has finally caught up with us.” The fact that every player made it through the entire game and none of them was injured is quite telling. Even though Brooke appeared to be a replacement, I felt that he appeared a little worn out, so Danny Mac could enter the game and give us a breather.
“Murray and Hutch wrapped up the match. They weren’t on the field and seemed to be experiencing a real issue that kept them out of the game, which gives you a hint as to what those injuries are.
“They entered the changing room in good spirits, but the following day they pay a price and leave.
It’s unfortunate, especially for Hutch given his performance and the goal he scored in the closing moments. It appeared that this would be a good opportunity for him to get some momentum.
Murray performed admirably in both the game and the one against Norwich.
“It provides an opportunity for others in the squad.”
