Done Deal: Nottingham Forest confirms deal over player
Celtic are interested in signing Scott McKenna from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.
That is according to PLZ Soccer, which has reported that Celtic have already made enquiries.
So, what has been reported about Celtic, Scott McKenna and Nottingham Forest?
Celtic linked with Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna
In any case, PLZ Soccer reports that Celtic wants to sign Scott McKenna from Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window.
According to the source, McKenna’s talents are highly sought after by several clubs, including Celtic, the Scottish Premiership winners from the previous campaign.
In an effort to bolster his defense, manager Brendan Rodgers of the Hoops has made “tentative enquiries.”
McKenna intends to sign for Besiktas, according to a December 2023 FotoMac story, which also stated that the defender plans to move out of City Ground in January 2024.
Nottingham Forest should sell Scott McKenna
Scott McKenna should be sold by Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window, and the club should aim to obtain a fair price for the center back.
McKenna is currently not a member of the first team squad and his contract with Forest expires at the end of the current campaign.
There seems to be a disagreement regarding his contract. If a player isn’t going to help the club, I don’t see why Forest would hold onto him until the summer of 2024 before letting him go for free.
McKenna is now training away from the first squad. Forest paid McKenna £3 million (Press & Journal) in transfer fees when he signed him from Aberdeen. The Reds are winning games and adjusting to life without him. The last two Premier League matches between Nuno’s team and Manchester United were victories.
This season, the Scotland international has made five Premier League appearances. The center back made 19 starts and one substitute appearance in the league in 2022–2023 season.
With 20 points from 20 games, Forest sits five points above the bottom three in the Premier League standings in 15th place.
