Interesting: Tottenham top target club makes huge statement

Tottenham continue to be linked with Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly but they may have to wait until summer to sign him.

The Times has reported that Tottenham is still interested in obtaining a center-back.

In the summer, they attempted to sign him and even placed a bid, but it was not successful.

Kelly’s contract was scheduled to expire in the summer, so the Spurs were hoping to sign him before then in January.

While Bournemouth may be reluctant to sell Kelly in January, the report suggests that they have previously demonstrated a willingness to allow players to depart as free agents. This means Spurs may be able to sign Kelly on a free transfer during the next summer transfer window.

But Tottenham needs defensive reinforcements badly, especially given their recent string of injuries.

Spurs are in a defensive bind due to the suspension of Cristian Romero after the same game, as well as the absence of Micky van de Ven, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury against Chelsea.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has had difficult decisions to make because there is only one recognized center-back on the field: Eric Dier. As a result, he has had to use right-back Emerson Royal in central defense against Villa.

The manager is keen to strengthen the defensive lineup in order to maintain stability in the squad, and the dearth of options at center back highlights the urgent need for reinforcements.

The club’s chances of succeeding the rest of the season could be harmed if defensive reinforcements are not acquired in January.
