Following rookie Chad Ryland’s game-tying miss in Week 12, it is rumored that the Patriots are eyeing kickers. Wright will get another chance. Wright, the starting kicker for the Jaguars in 2021, has not attempted a field goal this year. He played six games last season for the Steelers and Chiefs as a replacement leg. On the day of the roster cutdown, the Pats traded veteran Nick Folk to the Titans and selected Ryland in the fourth round. After missing back-to-back 35-yard field goals, Ryland will now face competition from the Patriots.
Ammendola, who was waived to make room for Monday’s claim Derek Barnett, is still in place as the Ka’imi Fairbairn fill-in for the Texans. Ammendola, who was also used in Kansas City as a Harrison Butker substitute the previous season, will once more be added to Houston’s active roster, as noted by Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. Ammendola failed on two attempts of 50 yards or more last week, including a 58-yard attempt that would have tied the game. Next week, Fairbairn, who is recuperating from a strained quad, is eligible to be activated from IR.
