REVEALED: Eric Dier furious responds to Ange for dropping him
A fresh report has shared how Eric Dier has reacted behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur after a lack of minutes this season.
Under Ange Postecoglou, Eric Dier has struggled to get playing time; so far this season, he has only made one Premier League start.
Before the international break, the 29-year-old was selected to play against Wolves, with Cristian Romero suspended and Micky van de Ven out.
However, yesterday Postecoglou started with two full-backs at center-back, Emerson Royal and Ben Davies, and the Englishman was benched once more.
On Sunday, Tottenham ultimately lost 2-1 to Aston Villa, and Dier was on the bench for the entire game.
Michael Dawson was surprised to see Dier dropped and it seems clear the defender has no long-term future at Spurs while Postecoglou is in the dugout.
And after being a key man under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, it seems Dier respects Posetcoglou’s stance.
How Dier has reacted to Postecoglou treatment
According to The Daily Mail, Postecoglou has been “entirely honest” with Dier about where he stands in the team right now.
It’s also mentioned that the defender respects the Spurs manager’s position.
Dier’s time with the Spurs appears to be running out, especially in light of Postecoglou’s apparent preference for a full-back over Dier.
The Englishman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he left in January.
Spurs, who have struggled at center back since Micky van de Ven’s injury, will be eager to add a new player.
Dier simply doesn’t fit into Postecoglou’s scheme, and when he plays a high defensive line, his lack of speed exposes them.
But it’s brilliant to hear that Dier maintains a decent relationship with Postecoglou and is acting professionally behind the scenes.
