Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg rejects Fulham move, See why.

Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has rejected the opportunity to join Fulham tonight.

In light of the uncertainties surrounding his future at N17, Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has decided against joining London rivals Fulham, according to Jason Burt of The Telegraph via Twitter.

The Danish star, who had been strongly linked with a summer transfer, is still at Tottenham as the summer transfer season draws to a close. He has an offer from Fulham, a Premier League competitor, on the table right now, but so far he hasn’t shown any interest in accepting it.

However, as long as negotiations go on, the deal is still alive. Time will tell if the two teams can come to an understanding and persuade the midfielder to reconsider his mind. It is practically a race against time right now to close the sale, therefore the sooner the better.

As Palhinha is closer to joining Bayern Munich, the Cottagers are eager to sign a midfield enforcer. It would be dangerous to lose the 28-year-old without finding a capable substitute because he is a crucial component of Marco Silva’s system.

Tottenham may be able to cope without losing Hojbjerg since Ange Postecoglou’s new system functions well even without him. The international player from Denmark is 28 years old, in the height of his abilities, and has extensive top-flight English experience.

For Fulham to add him to their squad, it shouldn’t take long. Hojbjerg, a fluid presence in the middle of the park, should fit Silva’s free-flowing style of play. He might turn out to be a great Palhinha replacement and an improvement over the Portuguese star in terms of offensive contributions.

However, the player has the final say in the transfer, and so far, he hasn’t offered any positive feedback. It will be interesting to see whether Fulham can convince him otherwise in the hours to come.
