29-year-old Tottenham player wants to leave today, but he could get stuck at the club
Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier could now end up being stuck at the club with a move currently not on the cards right now.
Sam Matterface, a journalist, provided an update on TalkSPORT (1/9 8:53am) regarding the likely departures at Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou is aware of how crucial today is for the remainder of the campaign.
Although Tottenham’s roster is too large for them to be officially registered in the Premier League, they have had trouble offloading players this summer.
Hugo Lloris and Tanguy Ndombele, for example, are still with the team despite not being in Postecoglou’s plans right now.
Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are a different pair of players they want to dump.
However, Dier might now be stuck at Tottenham after spending most of the summer not wanting to leave.
He’s now changed his mind but it might be too late.
Dier end up stuck at Tottenham
Matterface gave an update on the situation in North London, saying: “They need to move players out, but they’re not near right now.
“Two in particular are [Eric] Dier and [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg. He [Dier] has 12 months left on his contract, so I suppose he wants to depart to obtain more playing time.
“I’m not really certain it will occur. While that sort of plays out, he might end up waiting at Tottenham for at least six months.
“I’m not certain he will ultimately sign with Bayern just yet.
Over the past two months, Hojbjerg’s agent has made an effort to get him out and about.
However, they are willing to sell him if a good offer comes in, but I’m not confident that one will at this time.
Dier will be hoping he doesn’t get stranded at Tottenham, particularly if he doesn’t end up making their Premier League roster.
His prospects of discovering a new club in January won’t improve if he stays out of the game for the foreseeable future.
Before the 29-year-old sits out the rest of the season, a solution must be reached for all parties.
