‘I’m trying to find out who’: Journalist suggests there’s a mystery transfer deal Tottenham are now considering
Tottenham may well be the team to watch between now and the end of the transfer window.
Spurs haven’t been the most active in the market as of late, but after selling Harry Kane for in excess of £100m, they do have money to spend.
Brennan Johnson has been the subject of recent media attention, but it appears that Tottenham may not just sign the Welshman this summer.
In reality, Tottenham are still hunting for a new defender, according to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, who was speaking on Last Word on Spurs. The player that Spurs are now considering hasn’t exactly been identified by Thomas and his colleagues.
Mystery defender wanted
Thomas shared his understanding of the Spurs’ tactics.
“Spurs still have one option; I’m trying to figure out what it is and see if someone else has entered the game. They prefer Perr Schuurs, but Tosin Adarabioyo is becoming less likely and Schuurs is right-footed. It will take some investigation on my part and that of other journalists to determine who this prospect is and whether it is one we’ve already explored or another who has joined the scene. Yes, that does happen; fresh faces do join the fray, said Thomas.
Exciting
This rumor is intriguing.
Although Spurs have been dominating so far, their defense still has a weak spot in case any players go hurt or are suspended.
Yes, Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven have so far shown themselves to be a fantastic team, but if either of them gets hurt, Spurs’ defense looks, to put it mildly, quite shaky.
Fortunately, it sounds like assistance will soon arrive, and it’s intriguing to wonder who this unknown defense target could be.

‘He was that bad’: Pundit tears into Tottenham player after win and says he’s now the weak link
Richarlison has been dubbed the weak link in the revamped Tottenham Hotspur team by Gabby Agbonlahor, who also thought he performed poorly against Bournemouth last weekend.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor asserted that Ange Postecoglou’s team would have triumphed 5-0 at the Vitality Stadium if Harry Kane had started as the line-leader rather than the Brazilian.
There is pressure on Richarlison at the beginning of the campaign. It doesn’t help that he is having the chance to start more often for Spurs now that probably the greatest player in club history has left.
But there is little question that the 26-year-old has not yet been able to step up. It is the chance he would have been desperate for when he made the move to North London. But he is yet to open his account for Tottenham.
Richarlison identified as weak link in Tottenham side
Of course, Spurs are in a very good place right now. They have made a brilliant start to life under Postecoglou. And the Australian has certainly managed to capture the imagination of the supporters with the brand of football on show.
However, Agbonlahor clearly believes that something needs to be done about Richarlison after he was replaced by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the second-half against the Cherries
I think Richarlison is the weak link,” he said in a talkSPORT interview. “And I think you’re going to need a better striker moving forward for the rest of the season.” You win 5-0 thanks to a likely hat-trick from Harry Kane.
“The opportunities Richarlison had, particularly the one he took advantage of, required too many touches, and just his hold-up play is improper. After 55 minutes, Ange had to remove him from the game because he kept losing the ball. And you weren’t even able to substitute in a striker.
He was so awful that he brought in a defender and a midfielder.
In fairness to Richarlison, he is someone who has definitely proved what he can do in the Premier League. He was outstanding while at Everton before his move to Spurs.
But things just have not clicked over the last 12 months. And that will be a concern for the forward as well as Postecoglou.
It certainly leaves Tottenham with food for thought in the final days of the transfer window. They obviously still have an opportunity to sign a new forward before the deadline passes.
If there is a good time therefore, for Richarlison to have a difficult spell, this is perhaps it while Tottenham have time to do something about it.
