West Ham on verge signing Scots midfielder in out-of-the-blue deal today – report West Ham Zone

West Ham United are close to completing the signing of Andy Irving from Austrian side SK Austria Klagenfurt, according to Kronen Zeitung.

The biggest newspaper in Austria said that as part of the agreement, United will lend Irving back to Klagenfurt on Friday, September 1st, in its online edition.

According to reports, West Ham has already submitted their bid, which is anticipated to be accepted before the deadline on Friday, September 1 at 11 p.m.

According to reports, the transfer will “probably be a big windfall” for the financially struggling Austrian Bundesliga team.

Out of the (claret and) blue

This signing seemed to have occurred at the last minute.

Despite all the speculation of Youssef En-Nesyri, Yuri Alberto, or Hugo Ekitike being moved on deadline day, West Ham has chosen to sign a relatively unproven Scottish midfielder.

However, this is hardly a signing for the here and now, and more transactions could still be completed before the window closes.

Irving, a Scotland U21 international, played 59 times for Hearts earlier in his career before deciding to leave and join Turkgucu Munchen in Germany’s third division in 2021.

Following last season, the 23-year-old moved to Klagenfurt, and West Ham has since made contact with him, indicating that he has certainly made an impression in Austria.

Given Irving’s age, this seems like a weird choice, but let’s give the team the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Who knows, Irving might be the next underappreciated talent to become well-known under David Moyes’ direction.

In other West Ham news, it has been claimed that should a bid be submitted on the final day, the Hammers will prevent the departure of a first-team regular.
