REPORTER CLAIMS TOTTENHAM NOW SET TO MISS OUT ON MIDFIELD SENSATION
Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in Noel Buck, but a transfer now seems to be on hold.
Tom Bogert, a contributor to The Athletic, said as much on Caught Offside TV.
According to Bogert, Tottenham has expressed interest in acquiring Buck from the New England Revolution.
Before Buck became well-known in Major League Soccer, Tottenham was seeking a low-cost contract for him.
Buck has already made 29 first-team appearances for the New England Revolution, which is unfortunate for Spurs because he has established himself as a regular.
Bogert says that Buck’s continually escalating asking price indicates that he has “played himself out of their price point.”
A deal for Buck currently seems doubtful because Tottenham doesn’t appear willing to spend millions on an 18-year-old.
Perhaps Tottenham will enter the fray again at some point, but according to Bogert, Buck will now join another English club this winter.
Additionally, Buck is the subject of an international power struggle as both the US and England vie for his services.
“Noel Buck, I think that he’s absolutely going to end up somewhere in England because he has a UK passport,” said Bogert. “I know for a fact that the England Under-19’s tried to call him up in the summer, it was decided for him to stay with New England, where he was starting.”

As a dual citizen of the United States and England, he is a young international for the United States but is also eligible for England. I’m almost convinced that England will call him up in September. Tottenham had shown interest in him, but because they were hoping to get someone for a very low price before he actually made his MLS debut and established himself, he soon sort of played himself out of their price range. This player will likely cost between $5 million and $10 million, therefore this winter, virtually certainly, he will join another English team.
Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Noel Buck?
Buck hails from Massachusetts over in the United States, so it’s no great surprise that he has come up win the New England Revolution setup.
Buck joined the Revs academy in 2017 and featured prominently for the second team in the USL League One.
The teenager made his MLS debut in August of 2022, coming off the bench in a 1-0 win over D.C. United.
Buck made strides very quickly, making his first Revs start against Chicago Fire at the end of August 2022.
By September 9th, Buck had his first MLS goal as he scored the winner against New York City.
Now an important player in the New England Revolution midfield, Buck looks set for a big future – a future which mostly likely lies away from the US.
Tottenham have been interested in Buck for a while now having invited him to train with the club at the end of the 2022 MLS season.
Buck acknowledged that his trip ‘didn’t work out’ and that he didn’t end up travelling for that training time. If Bogert is right, Tottenham may now be out of the running.
