Tottenham have ‘forcefully entered the scene’ to sign player – ‘Taking first steps’ to get deal done

Ever since it became apparent that Barcelona were indeed willing to negotiate the exit of Franck Kessié this summer, Tottenham have been mentioned.

Spurs were heavily discussed this week in the Spanish media, and now the Italian media has heard about it as well, with both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport covering it on Friday.

The latter of the two commentators notes that Tottenham seems to have “forcefully entered the scene” for the midfielder and that they are prepared to pay Barcelona €15 million for a trade that would be permanent.

Even though Spurs won’t be playing in Europe next season, the move might still happen because he considers the prospect of moving to the Premier League to be highly alluring.

Gazzetta dello Sport corroborate some of this, and add that Tottenham are ‘taking the first steps’ to take Kessié away from right under Juventus’ noses, who have been trying to sort out some sort of deal with Barcelona for a while.

Therefore, it appears that there is some movement for the Ivory Coast international at Tottenham behind the scenes, regardless of what is occurring with Harry Kane in London.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Roma defender Roger Ibanez.

According to Roma Giallorosa, Tottenham are set to hold a meeting with the Italian club for the Brazilian soon.

Three weeks ago, the Italian club reportedly rejected the north London club’s bid of about €22 million, but it now appears that a ‘deal might be concluded’ for a sum of about €25 million.

Although Tottenham are presently in the lead to sign the 24-year-old center defender, West Ham are also interested in doing so.

The reported asking price appears to be pretty fair, and there is barely any difference in the two clubs’ assessed values. It is reasonable to anticipate that Tottenham will sign the defender at some point.

Ibanez has performed admirably for Roma, and he might prove to be a good addition for Tottenham as well.

The north London outfit conceded 63 goals in the league last season and they need to improve in that department if they wanted to do well next season and get back into the Champions League.

The 24-year-old central defender could form a quality partnership with Cristian Romero and improve Tottenham defensively.

The opportunity to play for a Premier League club will be an attractive proposition for the defender as well and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The 24-year-old is still quite young and he is likely to develop with coaching and experience. The €25 million asking price could look like a bargain in the long run.

Tottenham undoubtedly has the resources to make good on their obligations.

It appears that Roma director Tiago Pinto will travel to London in the “coming days” to have negotiations with the player’s current club about a move. It will be intriguing to see if the two teams can come to an understanding.
