Injury Update: Postecoglou confirms fresh Spur injury blow ahead of Nottingham Forest trip

Giovani Lo Celso will not travel with Tottenham to Nottingham Forest, according to Ange Postecoglou.

The manager does not think the midfielder’s injury is serious, but he does add his name to Spurs’ long list of injuries. The player sustained a “slight injury” during training.

Since filling in for James Maddison, Lo Celso has performed admirably, scoring goals against Manchester City and Aston Villa. However, he did not start the team’s most recent 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle.

“We’ve got quite a significant absence with eight on the injury table,” Postecoglou said in an interview with the team’s official media channels prior to Friday’s match at the City Ground.

“Gio Lo Celso will be absent this week, regrettably. We are down one more guy from last week, but the other guys are doing fine. Hopefully, it’s nothing too serious.

The manager said, “A slight training injury, which we are still trying to work out but it’s nothing serious,” in response to a question about Lo Celso’s injury.

Madison and fellow first-team regular Micky van de Ven are optimistic about their chances of being selected again in January, and Postecoglou is happy with their recovery progress.

He continued: “They are going OK. They are going through their rehab with Bentancur and Solomon and Phillips and all these other guys, so are cracking on.”
