This should never happen: Joining Carlos Corberan at West Brom would be the ‘worst’

Still, before the win over the Blades, there were questions regarding the future of manager Daniel Farke. Leeds United last enjoyed a three-match winning streak in the league in March. Since then, they’ve managed to win only seven of their last 20 matches—a performance that falls well short of expectations.

Recently, David Norris believes any bad run could even see Farke sacked before Christmas.

“The problem for Daniel Farke is that he can’t go five or six games without a win, that pressure is really on,“ Norris told MOT Leeds News. “Any sort of bad run and I do think Leeds could push the button, even if it’s this side of Christmas.”

Leeds United have to admire West Brom boss from afar

In September, Leeds United had reportedly been “keeping an eye” on the West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan, according to the Sunday Mirror, as pressure had mounted on Farke to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Corberan, who worked with Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road from 2018 to 2020, reportedly has a £2 million release clause in his current contract at The Hawthorns. Nonetheless, a reunion with Leeds United doesn’t seem likely one pundit says.

“It’s not even worth talking about,” Paul Robinson told MOT Leeds News. “It’s pie in the sky. He’s a great manager, who is doing a really good job at West Brom, but you don’t talk about another manager when he’s doing such a good job elsewhere.

“He’ll have his eyes on automatic promotion from the Championship so you can admire him from a distance. Looking at the job he’s done, defensively West Brom are a sound team, but we’re talking about two managers who are looking to achieve promotion with their teams. It’s a nonsense conversation.”
