‘Here We Go’ Romano drop exciting Celtic transfer news.. CONFIRMED!

Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Celtic’s Kasper Schmeichel announcement, contracts signed

Celtic are on the brink of announcing Kasper Schmeichel as the club’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

The Bhoys have been linked with the Danish goalkeeper for close to a week after he became a free agent.

Schmeichel spent last season at Anderlecht but is looking for a new challenge and is set to link up with his former Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.

The goalkeeper completed a medical earlier this week and now it appears he has agreed terms with the Scottish champions. We have been providing live updates throughout Thursday as the club gear up to deliver good news.

Fabrizio Romano reports the announcement will come tonight and that the move is at ‘deal done’ status.

Kasper Schmeichel ready to replace Joe Hart at Celtic

Schmeichel will replace his friend and former teammate Joe Hart between the sticks at the Bhoys. Hart recently described him as a player who can “do things that a lot of other goalkeepers can’t”, hyping up his ability during Euro 2024 punditry duties.

Schmeichel is still a keeper at the top of his game despite his advancing years and recently played all four of Denmark’s matches at the summer tournament.

The 37-year-old is set to become the second goalkeeper to join the Bhoys this summer after the club also signed Viljami Sinisalo from Aston Villa.

Sinisalo is expected to be the understudy to the more experienced veteran as Brendan Rodgers goes for proven quality in his starting eleven.

Celtic address transfer priority but there are more

The double signing addresses Celtic’s biggest transfer priority of the summer. The Bhoys have a very strong goalkeeping department for the coming season.

It will hopefully be the springboard towards more transfer activity too with a left-back, centre-back and striker all needed to kick on from last season.

With midfielders and wingers also linked with the Bhoys, we could end up having a busy window.
