The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce a three-year contract extension for lock Cameron Murray, an Australian and State of Origin player and Club captain, until the end of 2028 today.
Murray, 25, has played 146 NRL games for the Rabbitohs since his first grade debut against the Broncos in week eight of 2017. Murray took up the Rabbitohs’ captaincy at the start of the 2022 season and has captained the South Sydney first grade squad 43 times.Murray, Rabbitohs first grade player number 1134, has also appeared in six Test matches for Australia since 2019, including the team’s triumph in the Rugby League World Cup Final in 2022 as vice captain. Since his Blues debut in 2019, he has played 13 State of Origin games for New South Wales. In 2019, he received the Dally M Lock of the Year title from the Rabbitohs’ Jack.Rayner Players’ Player award, as well as the John Sattler Rookie of the Year award from 2017.
Murray, a South Sydney youngster from the Mascot Jets, is overjoyed to have extended his stay at his home club for another three seasons.
“This Club has always been home to me and I never saw myself playing anywhere else,” Murray told the crowd.
“Extending my contract here was a no-brainer for me, and I’m happy for the opportunity to represent South Sydney, our Members, and supporters every day.
“The Club has always looked after me and I feel like I’ve always done my best to put the Club’s best interests at the forefront of anything I do.

“I am really thankful to the Club for putting its faith in me to be a part of our next five years.
“It is now my obligation to repay that trust by my performance on the field and my behavior off the field.
