Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will feature against Brighton – Spurs Expert
Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will feature against Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 10 February, according to ex-Spurs scout Bryan King.
Son has returned to Hotspur Way following South Korea’s 2-0 loss to Jordan in the AFC Asian Cup semifinal on Tuesday, February 6 (Standard Sport, 8 February).
Ange Postecoglou and Spurs will benefit greatly from his comeback as they get ready to visit Brighton in the Premier League this weekend, and King thinks the attacker will contribute against the Seagulls.
King, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, stated: “I couldn’t believe that result—South Korea was shocked to be eliminated from the Asian Cup by Jordan.
Son will probably be put to use on Saturday. He will be in the squad, either as a starter or as a reserve, if he is fit.
“The team will perform much better with the captain back, and it will demonstrate his desire to be seen fighting for the team and the club in the Premier League.”
“In my opinion, there is no reason why he shouldn’t play on Saturday unless he is injured. He will, in one way or another, obtain playing time because he is the team’s leader and inspiration to the other players.
“As a professional, he has the intention of delivering.” He is aware that Spurs are vying for qualification to the UEFA Champions League, and that Son is a player who has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to play at the greatest level.
With Son back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs will be ecstatic.
Son is the top scorer for Spurs this year, so his return will provide the team much-needed momentum.
Postecoglou and his team will be eager to return to winning ways after suffering a devastating two-point loss at Goodison Park on Saturday, February 3, when Jarrad Branthwaite struck an equalizer in the 94th minute to make it 2-2.
Brighton has been inconsistent lately, and in their most recent away game (30 January), they were defeated 4-0 by Luton Town.
Spurs will therefore be optimistic that they can defeat Roberto De Zerbi’s team and secure three points; if Son plays, that likelihood will undoubtedly increase.
