Nottingham Forest are thought to be in talks over a sensational move that would see Keylor Navas return to The City Ground, with one reporter sharing a big update.
Nottingham Forest transfer news
Following their return to the Premier League in 2022, the Reds—now led by Nuno Espirito Santo—have a history of being active in the transfer market.
This January transfer window might not be any different, as there are a lot of circulating rumors about who might decide to sign with Nuno. According to recent rumors, Forest is preparing for a “hectic” month in the market as a result of the club losing Ola Aina, Willy Boly, Ibrahim Sangare, Cheikhou Kouyate, Moussa Niakhate, and Serge Aurier to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Defensor Nino from Fluminense and winger Gelson Martins have been strongly linked to the team; however, the latter is currently expected to sign with Olympiacos, another team controlled by Evangelos Marinakis.
Fans of Forest already know someone who may be moving this month from Navas, and new information has surfaced.
Nottingham Forest open Keylor Navas talks
Forest and Paris Saint-Germain are now in negotiations for Navas to make a “sensational return” to The City Ground, according to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider.
“Wants a proven goalkeeper who is more adept with the ball at his feet than current number one Matt Turner,” is how Nuno is reportedly described. “Negotiations to take Navas back are now underway, and Forest are hopeful a deal can be agreed upon with PSG once again,” he continues.
During the previous season, Navas played a key role in helping the team stay in the top division while on loan under Steve Cooper. Neco Williams called the goalie, who earns £180,000 a week, a “massive” player when he made his debut against Leeds United.
“What a huge, huge save (by Keylor Navas) in his debut. We appreciate that he kept us in the loop. What a career he has had and continues to have. Making your Premier League debut against Leeds is not an easy feat.

Cooper was also a fan, saying:
“In the short time he’s been here, we’ve seen a diligent, modest man who, despite what I just stated regarding his performance in the game, would have still wanted to perform well today and prove his value because that’s what a guy of that caliber does, and he succeeded in doing so.
“Brilliant in the first half, game managed equally as good in the second half and in the end, it was individual moments in terms of Keylor’s save, Brennan’s finish that won us the game.”
Reuniting with Navas could prove to be a wise decision since Forest has been struggling to keep clean sheets, conceding more goals than any other team outside of the bottom three in 20 top league games. This month will be interesting to watch as Forest continues to struggle with clean sheets.
