A delight to watch: Nuno calls u-19 player into first team
The Nottingham Forest B-Team is having a strong year in 2023, and Detlef Esapa Osong appears to be a real talent.
The forward has been regaining his physical fitness and hopes to be ready to play in the New Year.
Nonetheless, Esapa Osong has shown flashes in 2023 and appears to be a striker who could blossom at Forest in the future.
Who is Detlef Esapa Osong
Esapa Osong is a quick, strong attacker who isn’t afraid to put pressure on opposing defenses.
The 19-year-old has excelled with the under-18 team in the past and has advanced through the levels at the City Ground.
Esapa Osong, who signed his first contract in January 2022, is a young professional at the City Ground.
He was scoring goals for fun for the under-18 team that season as they overcame all odds to make it to the FA Youth Cup final.
He scored significant goals during that run, two of which came during a convincing comeback victory over Chelsea in the semifinal.
His pivotal moment of the current season occurred in a B-Team matchup with Arsenal.
In that match, Forest defeated the Gunners with a spectacular goal from Esapa Osong, extending their strong start to the Premier League 2 season.
What’s next for Esapa Osong at Forest
For the rest of the season, Esapa Osong’s task is to find his way back to the goal and establish himself as a regular in the B-Team.
When Steve Cooper was in charge at Forest, it was evident that the adolescent had captured his attention. In the previous season’s Carabao Cup second leg against Manchester United, he gave him a late replacement appearance.
It’s unfortunate that he had an ailment this season at the age of 19. He had planned to establish himself as a key member of the Premier League 2 B-Team, but he has been injured.
I think Esapa Osong has a very bright future if he stays loyal to himself and starts scoring goals regularly again.
