Confirmed: Ange to deploy ‘secret weapon’ against Everton

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Oliver Skipp will get more opportunities to play in the coming weeks.

Spurs’ season is going well so far. After going five games without a victory, they have bounced back nicely and appear to be the same formidable team as before the season. Although Skipp hasn’t played much thus far, he will likely see more action at Tottenham in the upcoming weeks.

Ange Postecoglou promises more game time to Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp

Oliver Skipp has been a Tottenham player since he was five years old.

Everyone at Spurs adores the £40,000-a-week (Spotrac) Englishman who came up through the ranks. He is a really skilled player who has previously proven his abilities on several occasions at the highest level.

This season, Skipp hasn’t played a much. Throughout the Premier League season, the 23-year-old has only started once, but he has regularly appeared off the bench.

When questioned about his midfield player, Ange Postecoglou revealed that the Spurs manager thought highly of him. He declared that Skipp will play a bigger role in the upcoming games and an even bigger role when Yves Bissouma is away for the AFCON the following month.

He stated, “Yeah, I think Skippy can play at six for sure,” according to Football London. There is obviously some leeway in who we utilize there because Pierre, Biss, and even Bentancur when he returned have all been there.

Indeed, Skippy has played a significant part in our team. He has primarily entered games when we needed extra energy to go farther up the park, and he has done it successfully. However, he is capable of playing at six and most likely will.

“With Biss out until almost the end of January, we will definitely use him in that space, and we have three games coming up this week, so he will definitely get an opportunity at some point in that position.”

Skipp could still become a star at Tottenham

Oliver Skipp has long been thought to be a Tottenham player with enormous potential, but he hasn’t been able to live up to the hype just yet.

Nearly everything you could ask for in a defensive midfielder is present in the 23-year-old. He can score from a distance and is strong both with and without the ball. Every time he has played, he has displayed incredibly encouraging signals.

Yves Bissouma and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are undoubtedly in front of Skipp in the hierarchy. But the Mali international will be gone for the entire month of January, and there’s a potential the Dane will depart the team the following month as well.

Given that Rodrigo Bentancur is still down, Skipp may take over as Tottenham’s starting number six. Should he live up to his full ability, he has the potential to be a star under Postecoglou.
