‘Cannot hide’ – Striker linked with Tottenham hints at Premier League ambition

Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been mooted as a target for Tottenham, has admitted that he admires the Premier League.

With 14 goals in his first eight Bundesliga games this season, Guirassy has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers (Transfermarkt).

Despite playing two fewer games than the England captain, the 27-year-old is only one goal behind Harry Kane (Eurosport), which is why the striker is drawing attention in the Premier League.

The Guinea international is being watched by a number of English clubs, including Spurs, according to TEAMtalk last month. The outlet also mentioned that West Ham, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham are interested in the player.

The center forward’s contract contains a €20 million (£17.4 million) release clause, as reported by Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Germany.

Two weeks ago, Football Insider speculated that the two teams leading the chase to sign Guirassy are Spurs and Fulham.

The Stuttgart player has now acknowledged his respect for the Premier League while reiterating that his primary goal is to succeed for his team.

The striker told The Guardian, in response to a question concerning England’s interest and his release clause: “I cannot hide these things – everyone knows the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world.”

However, I don’t close any doors at the moment. Europe is home to a number of very large teams, and the Premier League is not the only one.

“With our fantastic team at Stuttgart, anything is possible in football.” We stand a good chance if we can maintain our current level of humility.

A case could be made that Guirassy is just going through a good phase right now because of his lackluster career goal total.

That could help to explain why the biggest clubs in Europe don’t seem to be as interested in the Stuttgart star as they are in Santiago Gimenez.
