‘So unnecessary’ – talkSPORT pundit slams Everton loanee live on air after ‘ridiculous’ incident
Neal Maupay is criticized by a pundit live on talkSPORT following a “ridiculous” incident involving an Everton loanee.
TalkSPORT analyst Scott Minto said that Everton loanee Neal Maupay’s “ridiculous” yellow card for Brentford against Chelsea was “so unnecessary.”
The card was given to the striker on Saturday, October 28, while he was getting warmed up for the Bees early in the second half of their Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.
Maupay stopped Chelsea forward Cole Palmer from taking a free kick by coming onto the field and kicking the ball away.
According to the publication’s website, Minto stated in real time on talkSPORT, “It’s ridiculous, so unnecessary.” “Why are you entering and being reserved before you’ve even touched the field? That will undoubtedly convince Thomas Frank to reconsider even inviting him on!
Playing with the rules
Frank will undoubtedly respect Maupay’s choice to enter the field and slow down the action in order to support his own team.
But the Toffees loanee’s antics infuriated most of Stamford Bridge, and the game was tied at zero at the time.
Two minutes later, Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock scored the first goal. In the latter moments of the game, Maupay assisted his team in scoring their second.
Frank chose to insert the striker in the 76th minute. Maupay broke free in the 96th minute after a Chelsea corner, and Bryan Mbeumo scored the second goal with a rebound.
Given that Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was not in his goal, Maupay could have certainly scored on his own, but it is obvious that the attacker lacks confidence.
Even still, he will be credited with the assist on that goal, and his impish antics earlier in the half might have contributed significantly to the incredible victory.
