“Spurs will collapse, as usual”- Arsenal cult hero mocks Tottenham’s title credentials
Arsenal cult hero Bacary Sagna mocks Tottenham Hotspur’s title credentials
Bacary Sagna, a former right defender for Arsenal, doesn’t think Tottenham Hotspur can win the Premier League this year.
Spurs have played outstandingly thus far this season, going 8-0 in league play. We have 20 points before the international break in October and, along with Arsenal, are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League.
The most recent outcome was an away victory of 1-0 over Luton Town. After Yves Bissouma’s dismissal in the first half, we lost a man before scoring.
Sagna predicts Arsenal and Manchester City to contend for the championship for the second consecutive season with 30 games remaining. He predicts that Spurs will falter.
Sagna makes huge claim
The Frenchman said, via Paddy Power (h/t Metro):
“Manchester City and Arsenal will compete for the title; as usual, Spurs will falter.” And I’m not the only Arsenal supporter saying that. They won’t be reliable throughout the entire season, in my opinion. I don’t see anyone in that team, other from Heung-Min Son, who can serve as the team’s leader or be a key component of Spurs’ title defense.
Sagna, who never eon the league spent three years and seven years at Manchester City before joining Arsenal, continued:
“I have respect for the players, and they play good football under a good coach, but the season is very long, and I don’t see them competing on a long-term basis. They started well, and they can qualify for the Champions League, but I don’t see them competing for the title.”
He is completely in error. With his incredible start to the season, James Maddison is arguably a contender for Premier League Player of the Season. In Harry Kane’s absence, the English playmaker has helped Spurs generate opportunities and score goals.
Along with doing their part, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Son Heung-min appears to be the ideal candidate to lead the club considering his background, performance, and skills. The season is still rather long.
Although Yves Bissouma has experienced a tremendous comeback under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham would have been in a better position had they acquired a new world-class No. 6. We might be strong competitors if we manage to keep this team healthy for the remainder of the season.
Arsenal are level on points with Spurs but trail on goals scored, while Manchester City are two points behind us as of now.
