Former coach thinks 22-year-old Spurs target could earn a January transfer

Gimenez has been one of the most productive strikers in Europe thus far this year, and Roy Makaay, a former Feyenoord striker, anticipates that he will leave De Kuip during the January transfer window. Gimenez’s goals were a major factor in Feyenoord’s historic Eredivisie victory last season.

Former Feyenoord striker Roy Makaay expects rumoured Tottenham target Santiago Gimenez to leave De Kuip during the January transfer window.

Gimenez has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe since the start of the calendar year, with his goals being a crucial reason behind Feyenoord’s historic Eredivisie triumph last season.

The 22-year-old scored twice more in the team’s 2-0 victory over PEC Zwolle on Sunday, bringing his league-leading total of goals scored this season to 12. Unsurprisingly, his achievements have reportedly caught the attention of clubs all across Europe.

A few weeks ago, 90 Minutes revealed that scouts from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea had travelled to the Netherlands to observe the center-forward in action this season, and they had been impressed.

Would it be wise for Spurs to pursue Santiago Gimenez?

If Gimenez keeps playing as good as he is right now, Makaay has no doubt that he will be leaving Rotterdam in January.

“I hope they succeed, but if he (Giminez) continues to develop like this, he will already be gone during the winter break,” the former Feyenoord Under-21s coach told Football Transfers.

“That player is 22 years old, doing really well, and speaks Spanish. Clubs will likely phone about it over the holiday period, but Feyenoord may not pick up. We shall see.
