‘For those of you who doubted’ – Danny Murphy sends Liverpool title message to Man City and Arsenal

Liverpool is chasing down Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, and Danny Murphy has emphasised that they shouldn’t be written off from the title chase.

Lewis Dunk’s late leveller for the hosts caused the Reds to lose two points against Brighton on Sunday, preventing Jurgen Klopp’s team from catching up to the league leaders.

In what is shaping up to be the tightest competition for first place in years, Liverpool are presently three points behind Spurs after eight games played and will have ambitions of staying with their opponents from now until May.

Gary Neville and Alan Shearer are not persuaded that the Reds have what it takes to compete for the Premier League title, but Murphy has stated that Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton has not changed his opinion of Klopp’s team’s chances.

The former Reds midfielder said, “For those of you who underestimated Jurgen Klopp and this Liverpool team, although they drew, they remain in this title race. “They should have won the game in the second half. There are several positives, including Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, two midfielders who quickly got up to speed. At the top of the pitch, the forward players are friendly and competitive; everyone is working to keep the other players off the squad.

It’s wonderful to see that Manchester City is made up of real people who make mistakes and lose games. They will continue to be the team to beat, in my opinion. Arsenal performed admirably in a tense match and completed the task; of course, we must keep a watch on Tottenham. At Tottenham, everyone is performing well, but I’m not sure they have the depth to compete with the big ones. All we can do is wait and see.
