Brad Friedel names two positions Spurs need to invest in next under Postecoglou

Before the season began, many analysts and observers wrote off Tottenham, especially after Harry Kane departed the team to join Bayern Munich.

The Lilywhites, on the other hand, have certainly been the season’s biggest surprise thus far after playing some outstanding football and staying up with the top teams in the division.

Tottenham has had little trouble scoring goals, but Friedel thinks they still need to add another goal scorer and a backup center-back when the transfer window reopens.

According to 90 minutes, the former Spurs starter told Betway: “I think they still need a few more goals from someone else up front. They already have it in the squad if they can convince Richarlison to start doing that.

But as the FA Cup begins and the holiday season approaches, you have a lot of difficult games to recover from, so occasionally you won’t be at your best and you just need a goalscorer.

“When you think about the finest teams in history, they all had a player to carry them through those challenging games. Son is scoring, which is fantastic for them, but I believe they need another forward.

Then, if you’re considering the depth and rotation of the group, perhaps another center-back. Although Van de Ven and Romero are playing really well, you’ll need someone who is almost as good in case of injuries.

Ange Postecoglou is a breath of fresh air at Spurs

After going through a difficult few years, Friedel acknowledged that Tottenham needed a manager like Ange Postecoglou, but he insisted that the distance between them and teams like City is not as wide as it first appeared.

“He [Postecoglou] has made a tremendous impact,” he remarked. In a recent chat at the fan forum, Daniel Levy claimed that he hired Mourinho and Conte incorrectly. Two of the best soccer managers in the world, Mourinho and Conte, didn’t fit at Tottenham. Tottenham works for Postecoglou.

“He is in line with their preferred style of football play. So, I considered that to be extremely honest. Tottenham is already not far behind Liverpool and Man City as the two best teams in the Premier League right now, given how they are currently performing and how they have improved since losing Harry Kane last season.

James Maddison’s influence on the Tottenham team has also been lauded by Friedel, who said that the England international appeared to become one of the team’s leaders almost right away.
