What a signing’: Sky Sports pundit stunned by West Ham summer signing’s efforts last night
In their opening Europa League game of the year, West Ham won easily, and James Ward-Prowse left one Sky Sports analyst speechless.
West Ham has had a tremendously strong start to the season as they have only suffered one Premier League loss and have won their opening match in the Europa League.
The new additions to the Hammers have all adjusted well, making it a positive start to the season for them as well.
Even supporters who were pleased with the arrival of James Ward-Prowse from Southampton will be surprised by the effect he has had.
Sky Sports pundit raves over Ward-Prowse
Both as a defensive and an offensive midfielder, Ward-Prowse has excelled, and he undoubtedly hopes that his recent success will lead to an England call-up.
During their victory in the Europa League, Lee Hendrie praised the center midfielder in great detail on Sky Sports News. He remarked, “What a signing Ward-Prowse has been for West Ham.”
The statistics support how effective the English player has been this year. The player has so far made five appearances for West Ham and has two goals and five assists.
With the summer signing in great form, it is not surprising that the Hammers are having such a successful season. This is an astounding total.
Manager David Moyes of West Ham will undoubtedly want Ward-Prowse to keep up his strong play. If so, the team will undoubtedly have a very strong season.
After a disappointing Premier League campaign the previous season, Moyes has done a lot of good work with the Hammers, and it appears like he has been able to turn things around.
One Hammer proved why Moyes hardly ever plays him with awful performance vs Backa Topola
Even though the West Ham players were clearly not at their peak tonight in their Group A Europa League debut, the team nevertheless managed to prevail.
Our play was always going to be a little clumsy, but Hammers manager David Moyes did make nine changes from the team that lost 3-1 to Manchester City on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Pablo Fornals was the only player that fell flat.
Over the past year or so, the Spaniard has played very little, and tonight made it abundantly clear why.
West Ham man had a shocker against Backa Topola in the Europa League
Fornals was removed from the game midway through the second half after putting on a pretty bad performance tonight against the Serbian team.
The 27-year-old’s departure was decades away, and he merely appeared to be a minor component.
Moyes has only played the Spaniard for 39 minutes in each of the previous four Premier League games the Hammers have played, according to Transfermarkt, and if tonight’s performance is any indication, he won’t get much more action over the coming few months.
Fornals was clumsy and slow, and he actually gave off a thoroughly defeated and insecure vibe.
Pablo’s contract at the London Stadium expires in the summer of 2024, and it was recently reported that he would not exercise his option to extend it by an additional 12 months.
Fornals’ performance for West Ham tonight against Backa Topola in the Europa League makes it evident, in my opinion, that his time at the London Stadium is coming to an end.
And that’s a genuine tragedy, as the Spaniard enjoys enormous popularity among the team.
