Despite been told to leave on a free transfer on deadline day, player still choose to stay back at Spurs
The transfer merry-go-round has stopped turning again for another few months, and in amongst the deadline day madness came the news that, apparently, one Tottenham Hotspur player turned down the chance to move to Newcastle for free in the final hours of the window.
However, the Magpies might have given him the chance to play in the Champions League this year and be a part of a well-established project under Eddie Howe rather than a new one under Ange Postecoglou.
Nevertheless, L’Equipe said that Hugo Lloris was unmovable.
The reason Lloris declined a transfer to St. James’ Park appears to be that the former captain is unpopular with the Australian, who favors Guglielmo Vicario as his No. 1.
The publication also points out that a move to Newcastle was contingent on the French World Cup winner serving as Nick Pope’s backup, and it is obvious that Lloris does not enjoy being anyone’s No. 2 goalkeeper.
It’s not really apparent where that leaves the keeper, because White Hart Lane is undoubtedly the scene of a high stakes poker game.
The Saudi Pro League could undoubtedly be his home, but if he had chosen to relocate there in order to benefit from the wealth on offer, he probably would have done so by now.

The Argentine is apparently in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Tottenham team news vs Burnley
Spurs have had a strong start to the new Premier League season, going undefeated in their first three league games.
During the summer transfer window, Postecoglou also had to manage without star striker Harry Kane, who signed a multi-million pound deal to join Bayern Munich.
In their first game without Kane, Tottenham managed to draw 2-2 with Brentford on the road. That result was followed by victories of 2-0 over Man United and Bournemouth, respectively.
The media has also praised Postecoglou’s form of attacking, flowing, and open football. Sky Sports analyst Roy Keane praised the Australian’s “simple” but successful style.
He doesn’t make the game more difficult, does he? After Tottenham’s triumph over United, Keane commented on Sky (via Glasgow Times), “He keeps it very simple.
Obviously, what he is saying is plain sense, and we have seen that previously at his former clubs, especially when he was with Celtic.
“And perhaps a team like Spurs and the guys there needed that. We can all make the game more difficult, but he seems to do a great job at making it simpler.
