According to Sky Pundit: ‘Great Advantage’ EPL quickest player set to join Tottenham
Darren Ambrose says Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson is going to be a ‘fantastic signing’ for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.
Brennan Johnson is ‘one of the quickest players’ in the Premier League, according to the former midfielder.
There is a good chance the Nottingham Forest player will leave his hometown club before the transfer deadline, according to Ambrose, who recently told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports that the potential transfer cost of £50 million on his head “isn’t a lot of money” in the footballing world.
Tottenham was eliminated from the League Cup on Tuesday by Fulham despite having a positive and undefeated start to the current Premier League season.
That has soured the atmosphere in the Spurs camp, but that would undoubtedly improve if a few players were added before Friday’s deadline for transfers.
Ambrose was excited to learn that Johnson might be joining the Spurs because he also mentioned that he played with the 22-year-old’s father.
“I really like Brennan Johnson,” Ambrose stated. “He is amazing, in my opinion. He’s just 22. At Ipswich, I did play with David, his father. That really makes me feel really ancient.
He’ll be angry with me for saying this. However, I believe Brennan is a greater player than his father, who was a great player.
But look at his pace. He has to be among the Premier League’s quickest players. He doesn’t replace Harry Kane in a like-for-like manner. We are aware of that.
He like to play wide. However, I believe you may work him into the position of number nine. To claim that £50 million is a little sum of money is careless. It’s not much, though, in the chaotic world of football. This would be a great acquisition for Spurs, in my opinion.
Johnson would thrive at Spurs
Johnson is someone who would thrive in Postecoglou’s new attacking system and help raise a club that has had a promising start to the current season.
Additionally, it puts pressure on guys like Richarlison because there have been rumors that he didn’t want to start Tuesday’s match against Fulham.
However, it gives a side that believes they can dominate everyone in the Premier League more quality in the forward areas.
