Ange Postecoglou now suggests £20m Tottenham player is fit and ready to play against Fulham tonight
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has suggested that Destiny Udogie will be ready to play against Fulham tonight.
The Aussie boss has been speaking to Tottenham’s official website ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup clash at Craven Cottage.
With a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, Postecoglou extended his impressive start in North London.
Along with Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, and Pape Matar Sarr all made appearances.
On Saturday, Udogie provided the assist for Dejan Kulusevski’s second goal of the game for Tottenham and put on yet another encouraging performance.
In the 82nd minute, the 20-year-old hobbled off the field and was replaced by Ben Davies.Prior to the match against Fulham, Postecoglou has stated that Udogie is healthy and prepared to play.
Postecoglou on Udogie fitness
Speaking to Tottenham’s media team, Postecoglou shared an update on Udogie’s fitness after the defender picked up a knock against the Cherries.
According to what I understand, I think he simply kicked the ground, the Spurs manager stated.
He didn’t want to leave the field, but due to the current set of regulations, where they go off for 30 seconds, I decided Ben should come on to keep the game moving forward for us. He’s fine, I’m just talking to him right now.
With his early-season performances, Udogie has surprised many after being acquired by Spurs for £20 million last summer.
The Italian fullback performed admirably as a left wing-back during his season-long loan at Udinese.
It was unclear how he’d adjust to playing in a back four under Postecoglou, but he’s slotted in seamlessly so far.
The youngster may well get a rest for tonight’s trip to Fulham after starting in every game this season.
But he is already becoming an integral part of this new-look Spurs side and it’s certainly positive news for the club that he’s fine after being subbed off at Bournemouth.
