Postecolgou confirms 27-year-old will get first start of the season against Fulham

Ange Postecoglou has said that Giovani Lo Celso will start against Fulham tomorrow evening but refused to confirm whether the midfielder will be staying at the club.

In the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, Lo Celso made his first competitive game for Tottenham in nearly two years. The midfielder afterwards admitted on social media that he was nervous.

I’m excited to re-don the Spurs jersey.

Cristian Romero, a close friend and fellow countryman, also stated that the midfielder wants to remain in North London and have a significant influence this year in an interview with The Evening Standard last week.

Despite this, there is still a lot of rumor around the 27-year-old’s future, with Napoli (Il Mattino), Real Betis (Rudy Galetti), and Barcelona (Javi Miguel) reportedly considering late moves for the player.

Lo Celso is unfortunate not to have received more playing time this season, Postecoglou said on Saturday (Football.London).

Lo Celso will start vs Fulham in the Carabao Cup

The Australian provided a diplomatic reaction when asked about those remarks and whether the player will remain at the club, but he did reveal that the midfielder would start the Carabao Cup match at Craven Cottage.

In response to Lo Celso, Tottenham’s head coach remarked to Football.London: “As I said yesterday, he’s been a bit unlucky. He did well for us when he came on. When he came on for us, I thought all the subs performed admirably. I thought all the substitutes performed admirably simply to aid in our game management.

“We’ve got a game Tuesday night and he’ll play. It will be, for want of a better word, a fun week. We’ve got plenty going on for sure. I’m just dealing with what’s in front of me. Unless I get told otherwise, I’ll work with the group I’ve got and focus on Tuesday night.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The likes of Lo Celso, Hojberjg, Perisic, Solomon, and Emerson have a chance to impress the boss and build a bid for a spot in the starting eleven against Burnley, so I am interested to see how they do against Fulham.
