‘News just reaching us’: Sky Sports reporter shares update on Harry Kane’s Tottenham decision
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is now considered ‘increasingly likely’ to stay at the club despite an offer from Bayern Munich.
Despite a contract offer from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Harry Kane appears to be staying with Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour, who was speaking on the radio this afternoon, that is the case.
Kane was leaning toward staying at Tottenham as of this morning, according to Gilmour’s earlier statement.
That was before to the public disclosure of Bayern’s proposal, but Gilmour has since provided an update.
The ‘latest evidence’ now indicates that Kane is ‘increasingly likely’ to remain at Tottenham, according to Gilmour, who made this announcement on Sky Sports.
Many people anticipated that Kane would move to Germany; if he hadn’t made it clear that he wanted to come, would Bayern really have fought so hard to sign him?
Kane, though, doesn’t seem to be fully sold, and the latest signs point to Kane’s intention to remain at Tottenham.
Given that his contract with Tottenham expires in 2024 and he has the option to leave for free, this does not necessarily imply that Kane is committing his future to the club.
Spurs will hope that Kane can be talked around though, especially with an exciting brand of football emerging under new boss Ange Postecoglou.
“Tottenham and Bayern Munich have agreed a deal worth almost £100million for the England captain Harry Kane, well our information – and we’ve been waiting on Kane’s decision or any sort of insight – and the latest information we have is that it’s looking increasingly likely that Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham this season, so that’s some news just reaching us, the sort of information coming in,” said Gilmour.
Bayern Munich will be fuming if Harry Kane stays at Tottenham Hotspur
This has been a torrid summer for Bayern when it comes to targeting English players.
Bayern wanted to land midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United but he ended up going to Arsenal instead.
Bayern also targeted a deal for Kyle Walker and whilst that deal looked likely at times this summer, he is now set to stay at City.
Kane was the top target with Bayern desperate to land a new striker but they look set to miss out on a third England international.
Bayern has been pretty transparent in its pursuit of Kane because they think he would be thrilled to transfer to Bavaria.
Kane might be changing his mind, so perhaps it’s not all about the trophies after all.
If Kane moves to Germany, he might win one or two Bundesliga titles, but would he actually win the Champions League there? Recent data indicate it’s unlikely.
With a great season, the England star might come very close to breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record.
Kane may still leave Spurs in 2024 but Tottenham fans will be delighted if he decided to snub Bayern and continue in North London.
