‘If I owned the club’: Sky journalist suggests Tottenham have a player who’s worth £200m

Harry Kane’s future was discussed by Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, who claimed the striker is worth £200 million to Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Kane has been strongly connected with a move to Bayern Munich, according to a recent report in The Times, which Solhekol was talking about.

Last week, the Bundesliga champions had a deal worth approximately £86 million rejected; nevertheless, they are anticipated to make another offer before the weekend.

Kane is reportedly eager to decide his future before the Premier League season begins and it’s believed that he won’t leave Tottenham until a deal is reached before the club’s match against Brentford on Sunday.

According to Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel’s team will make an approximate £94.6 million offer to sign Kane this week.

However, Solhekol has stated that he would seek roughly £200 million to trade Kane this summer if he were the owner of Tottenham.

Kane is worth £200m to Tottenham

Yesterday, Solhekol argued for Tottenham to hold out for a far higher price during an appearance on Sky Sports News when he reviewed a recent story on Kane’s future.

The writer stated, “Martin Samuel, who I believe is close to Daniel Levy or may have been in the past, wrote a brilliant story in the Times this morning (Tuesday) and he makes the argument that Kane is vital to Spurs.

“He’s worth more than £95 million to Spurs. He’s worth more than £100 million, he’s probably worth more than £150 million to Spurs. When people think about Tottenham Hotspur, what’s the first thing you think of? You think of Harry Kane.“He’s an icon. After Jimmy Greaves, after Glenn Hoddle, he’s their greatest player. Why would they sell him for £85 million paid in installments to Bayern Munich? Let’s get real, he didn’t grow up dreaming of playing for Bayern Munich. If it was Real Madrid and he was going to play with Kylian Mbappe, you’d think ‘ok let’s not stand in his way, it’s every players dream to go and play for Real Madrid’. That’s an article worth reading because he makes some very good points.”

He added: “But if he stays until next summer, Spurs have got between now and next summer to convince him to sign a new contract.

“My personal opinion is, Harry Kane is up there with the greats of the game, you’re talking Kylian Mbappe level. I’d be looking at £200 million.

“If I owned the club Harry Kane was playing for, that is the kind of figure I’d be looking at.”

Of course, the 30-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs and will be able to leave for nothing if he doesn’t pen a new deal over the coming months.

But Solhekol makes a great point that Kane is almost invaluable to Tottenham and from their point of view, it could be worth taking a risk on his future.

If Spurs enjoy an encouraging start to life under Postecoglou, the England captain may just be convinced his long-term future lies in North London.
