I don’t want to lose my Contract: Spurs player tenders apology and begs for second chance
“I stepped on his ankle” – Defender apologises for hurting Tottenham player last night, could’ve seen red
Dejan Kulusevski has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season and Spurs fans would absolutely hate to lose the Swede to an injury anytime soon.
Fortunately, the attacking midfielder has avoided such on international duty despite a threat coming his way in the game against Estonia yesterday.
FotbollSkanalen note that Estonia’s Karol Mets fouled the Tottenham man, who was left rolling about in pain and reeling from what was a late challenge.
Mets was only shown a yellow card but he apologised to the player after the game, which Sweden won 3-0.
He said, as relayed by FotbollSkanalen: “It was just a normal duel. I slipped a bit and stepped on his ankle. I hope he is fine and that it was nothing serious.”
On it being a yellow, he suggested relief: “Yes, definitely. On a worse day it could even have been something else (red card). So it was fair.”
The Spurs star also seemed to accept the apology after the win.
“There was nothing bad that he wanted to do. I could play on.”
The 24-year-old’s comments would also come as a sigh of relief for his club’s fans.
Kulusevski might have only one goal and an assist in the Premier League so far, but he has been in the thick of creating things in the attacking midfield role.
Spurs’ major issue has been converting chances and Kulusevski’s performances would gain more limelight, if that problem was sorted.
As it stands, he can continue to do his job at the weekend against West Ham.
He should be given more time; Pundit blast Ange for Poor player Decision
Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski impressed yet again for his country as Sweden earned a 3-o win against Estonia.
The Spurs attacker didn’t score a goal, but he provided one assist for the third goal. Overall, he was a constant threat throughout Monday night’s UEFA Nations League clash.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for Tottenham and produced a superb performance in Sweden’s previous game against Slovakia.
The back-to-back impressive performances indicate that the winger is brimming with confidence at the moment, and Ange Postecoglou will want more from him for Spurs when he returns to the club this week.
How the Swedish media reacted to his latest performance
Swedish press Fotball Skanalen has showered praise on Kulusevski, saying it was a “great performance”.
They added that the attacker was heavily involved throughout the game and nearly scored a goal after dribbling past two defenders inside the box.
From there, he unleashed a rocket but couldn’t find the net. He provided one fantastic cross to Viktor Gyokeres.
They wrote: “Was very involved. Came close to making it 3-0 after dribbling past two opponents in the penalty area and unleashing a hard shot that the keeper saved for a corner.
“Had a good cross to Gyökeres who got a good position and shot. Great performance as he assisted the 3-0. Good position to make 4-0.”
Kulusevski must continue his impressive performance for Tottenham
The Spurs winger registered five shots and made four key passes during the game on Monday night.
He made 55 passes with an 85.5% accuracy and also delivered two accurate long balls, as per whoscored.com.
Kulusevski has started in six games for Spurs, and he has come up with one goal and an assist in the Premier League. This is one area where he must improve.
He has got loads of potential and can wreak havoc with his brilliant dribbling skills. But he must to become a match-winner for Spurs, and make valuable contributions by scoring goals or providing assists.
