Fabrizio Romano now claims Spurs eyeing late swap for English defender

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a late move to sign Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly with Eric Dier potentially on offer the other way.

Tottenham Hotspur is interested in Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly as the transfer deadline approaches.

Fabrizio Romano assests that Tottenham are currently “considering” a potential move to sign Kelly.

According to reports, there is now no definite information and no offer from Tottenham on the table.

Before bringing new players to North London, Spurs must first let certain players go.

Tottenham wants Kelly, though, and would even trade Bournemouth for undesirable defender Eric Dier.

Bournemouth would also want to replace Kelly and finding somebody at such short notice is, of course, not easy.

That may make Dier appealing to Bournemouth as he can offer an immediate replacement, but it’s unclear whether the Cherries would be interested.

Tottenham Hotspur face busy end to the window amid Lloyd Kelly chase

We can comprehend Tottenham’s fascination with Kelly.

Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham has been a target for Spurs in their pursuit of a homegrown defender.

However, Adarabioyo would like to move to Monaco, therefore Spurs may now turn to Kelly.

The 24-year-old cost Bournemouth £13 million when he was acquired from Bristol City in 2019 and has since made over 100 appearances for the Cherries.

Kelly, who was once captain of Bournemouth and was praised as “outstanding” by his former manager Eddie Howe, is a naturally left-footed defender, which is quite common in the current game.

Kelly checks the right boxes for Tottenham, but much work remains.

Dier, Hugo Lloris, Davinson Sanchez, Bryan Gil, Tanguy Ndombele, and Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg are great candidates to leave Tottenham.

Then, Spurs could concentrate on their own goals, which appear to be the acquisition of Kelly, Conor Gallagher, and Brennan Johnson, three homegrown players.

Tottenham must move quickly if they are to complete all of this business, both incoming and exiting, as there isn’t much time left.
