‘That is not true’ – Fabrizio Romano denies claim about Spurs and Gift Orban

Fabrizio Romano has said that even though Tottenham explored a deal for Gift Orban, the North London club never submitted an offer.

Even though there has been a lot of rumors tying Orban to a move to Tottenham over the past month and a half (Voetbalkrant), the deal does not seem to have advanced, and with only two days left in the transfer window, it now seems rather unlikely to happen.

In fact, on Sunday’s episode of the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Sky Sports writer Lyall Thomas stated that Spurs may decide not to sign a pure center-forward with the Nigerian’s profile.

He asserted that Ange Postecoglou favors a versatile wide attacker over a number nine, such as Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham never bid for highly-rated Gift Orban

According to Romano, even if Spurs continue to prioritize acquiring an attacking player, they never made an offer to buy Orban’s contract.

The writer stated to Kick that signing an offensive player is Tottenham’s top priority. We are aware that Harry Kane must be replaced. They gave Gift Orban a lot of thought, but they never submitted an official bid.

“We heard rumors about a formal bid from Belgium last week or ten days ago, but I’m informed this is untrue. Tottenham never submitted a formal offer.

Tottenham’s roster size on the last day of the transfer window is absurd.

Spurs have been attempting to clear the decks all summer, but they have had a difficult time locating suitors for their elite players who are looking to leave.

Somehow, players like Tanguy Ndombele, Hugo Lloris, Japhet Tanganga, and Eric Dier are all still employed by the organization.

Davinson Sanchez was one player that appeared to be departing early in the window, but it appears like the Colombian may be staying now.

Could be useful

Whatever your opinion of Davinson Sanchez’s talent, he might still be useful for Tottenham as a depth player.

Yes, he hasn’t been very good for the past 18 months or so, but there’s a good reason Spurs once paid a club record sum for the defender.

Sanchez would undoubtedly provide Tottenham the depth they need even though he isn’t talented enough to start.

Sanchez staying with Spurs may not be a bad decision after all.
