After Van de Ven, Tottenham now expected to complete second medical today

Tottenham Hotspur will conduct a medical on defenders Micky Van de Ven and Alejo Veliz today.

According to an Evening Standard story, the medical professionals at Hotspur Way may be in for a busy day.

Ange Postecoglou will be overjoyed with how the last 24 hours went.

In a friendly yesterday, his Tottenham team easily defeated Shakhtar Donetsk.

Harry Kane was on fire, scoring four goals in front of a nearly-full crowd that was doing everything it could to persuade him to stay.

He took on a more advanced role than usual, serving as a playmaker for the Spurs less frequently.

That freed up James Maddison’s creativity, which he fully delivered.

Tottenham are about to make two more signings, with Alejo Veliz and Micky Van de Ven scheduled to have medicals.

Spurs have been in desperate need of defensive reinforcements all summer, so the arrival of the Dutch defender at the stadium yesterday was very much appreciated.

Less is known about Veliz, who may play a larger role than many imagined this season.

Veliz to have Tottenham medical today

According to the Evening Standard, both players are about to sign with the club.

They’ll both have medicals today, and if everything goes as planned, they should be announced as new signings soon.

Alejo Veliz is projected to cost roughly £13 million, a hefty sum for a youngster.

He’s already an Argentine young international, with 11 goals in 23 appearances this season for Rosario Central.

His present club’s belief in him implies he’s more than ready for first-team duty.

So much so that there are presently no plans to loan Veliz out this summer, despite Rosario’s desire for him to stay for the remainder of the season.

As long as nothing goes wrong with his medical, Veliz will be a Tottenham player very soon.

If Harry Kane does depart, then the teenager would be Richarlison’s backup going into this season.

It would be a lot of responsibility on the 19-year-old’s shoulders.

However, if they didn’t think he was up for it, then they wouldn’t be planning to keep him at the club for the upcoming campaign.
