According to reports, Tottenham are interested in Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson, who is being pursued by Aston Villa and Brentford.

Johnson was superb for Nottm Forest last season as they avoided relegation from the Premier League. He grabbed eight goals and three assists in the league as Steve Cooper’s side stayed up with a game to spare.

This summer, Forest’s Premier League opponents are showing interest in the forward. While Aston Villa and Brentford have explored a trade for him that would include the defender Lucas Digne, Brentford has had several bids for him rejected.

Unsurprisingly, Nottingham Forest would love to retain Johnson, and this summer they have established their asking price at £50 million.

Tottenham will have additional resources available if Kane departs, and The Daily Mail is stating that ‘they will push’ for Johnson if their best asset goes with Bayern Munich.

‘Executives from Bayern Munich, Jan-Christian Dreesen, Marco Neppe, and Daniel Levy from Tottenham’ met on Monday ‘in London’ to talk about Kane, who is also wanted by Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Regarding Johnson, Forest ‘have to be realistic’ and they may be forced to sell with ‘FFP on their shoulder’. The report adds.

‘Tottenham have been busy assessing forward options to fill the void Kane will leave. Bayern’s Mathys Tel has been mentioned, though he isn’t overly keen on a move, and Gift Orban of Gent is another thought to be under consideration. However, Johnson has Premier League experience and is homegrown.

‘Manager Steve Cooper doesn’t want to sell Johnson, who is also popular at Aston Villa, but Forest must be practical with FFP looming over them. They turned down Brentford’s bid of £35 million plus add-ons, but it’s understood that offers closer to £50 million would need to be considered. Tottenham won’t go that high, but as they go for a speedier offensive profile, they might find a halfway ground.

Forest is a fan of Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez at center back. Spartak Moscow offered £12.9 million to Tottenham for the Colombian, but he was hesitant to leave and was waiting on Galatasaray.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg has consistently reported on the Kane saga this summer and he confirmed on Monday evening that ‘no agreement’ has been reached yet between Bayern Munich and Tottenham.

Bayern chiefs ‘did not fly to London today expecting to reach a complete agreement’ but ‘negotiations are ongoing’ between the two clubs.

It was reported over the weekend that Bayern Munich are willing to pay a ‘record’ £86m fee for Kane as they see him as a perfect long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
