Fabrizio Romano gives insight on “important” transfer claim out of Spurs
Thomas Tuchel is desperate to sign the Tottenham forward this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich has made “important contact” with Tottenham Hotspur over a trade for Harry Kane and has no plans to stop pursuing the center-forward.
Kane will he join Bayern?
Despite having already had two bids for Kane rejected, Bayern is still showing no signs of giving up on the English forward.
In light of Bayern’s interest in Kane, Spurs will find it challenging to keep the 29-year-old in north London as long as he is still set on joining the German champions.
However, Daniel Levy and Tottenham, in particular, are already familiar with the procedure. Every time the transfer window opens, Kane’s future is the main topic of discussion, as it has been many times before.
This time it may be tougher to halt Kane’s exit with Romano claiming that Bayern have no intention of stopping their pursuit of the attacker having made “important contact” with Spurs over a deal.
Romano remarked on his Here We Go podcast: “We can confirm what has been published tonight, so there was a very big communication between Bayern and Tottenham to discuss Harry Kane.
“This is significant because Bayern is making every effort. This is extremely obvious. They about 20 days ago rejected their offer of €70 million plus add-ons. Then Tottenham turned down an additional offer of €80 million. Tottenham has always made it clear that they will do all in their power to keep Harry Kane at the team. They intend to provide to him a fresh deal.
“Ange Postecoglou is trying to convince the player about the project by speaking to him directly at the training ground, but Bayern are still trying. Thomas Tuchel is behind this story because Tuchel is really pushing to have Harry Kane and Bayern and Tottenham had a conversation. At the moment, it’s still not something like a done deal, an agreement.”
He added: “Bayern told in a very clear way to Tottenham that they don’t have an intention to stop. They want Harry Kane and they want to try again. So, the feeling of sources is that Bayern tried to explore the real conditions from Daniel Levy to sign Harry Kane.”
Bayern’s persistence may prove increasingly difficult for Levy to resist as Kane’s contract expires next summer and he is keen on a move to Bavaria.
Losing such a crucial and talismanic figure, though, would severely impede Postecoglou’s recovery efforts and leave the Lilywhites facing a precarious season without Kane’s reliable goals.
Spurs owe a debt of gratitude to Kane for saving their bacon several times in recent seasons despite Tottenham’s lackluster performances and eighth-place finish. Kane scored 30 goals in 38 Premier League games.
Tottenham is bringing in who?
Tottenham fans will be quite concerned if Kane leaves, but they can be very happy with the deals they have already made this window.
Manor Solomon, Guglielmo Vicario, and James Maddison have all arrived at Hotspur Way, and Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro’s loans have been made permanent.
While any new signings may be influenced by potential outgoings, there is a sense that Postecoglou is nowhere near done in the market.
A new center-back is currently the club’s main priority, with Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven at the top of the list of candidates. The Bundesliga duo would both provide Postecoglou with a central defender who is at ease playing out from the back and strengthen a weak defense.
Spurs would definitely need a ready-made successor if Kane were to depart, and one player they would consider is Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, though the striker would probably cost a small fortune.
