Dobbo to rush back his Springboks for Euro tour

Stormers head coach John Dobson will waste no time welcoming back their Springbok delegation when they take on the Scarlets in Llanelli next weekend.

With the Stormers getting off to a near-perfect start to the season, securing nine out of a possible 10 points in their opening two fixtures, they head to Europe hoping to improve their away record in the URC.

“A couple of them [Springbok] will definitely play next week,” Dobson said after the 26-10 win over Ospreys in Cape Town.

“We need to get wins on the road, and their available, so we’ll do our part.”

Asked how they will manage the players’ workload, Dobson said that the coaching staff aren’t worried about overworking their players.

“The rest protocols, we know how much rest we’ve got to give them before the end of the season.

“I think it’s up to us how we manage them, but I think this tour is important to us, and they seem to have bought into that.”

The international players seemingly can’t come back soon enough, as the Stormers’ injury list, particularly among the backline, continues to cause issues.

“It’s been hard even training, hasn’t it, with the numbers we’ve got in the backs,” Dobson said.

“Dan du Plessis shouldn’t really be playing, so we really are patched together.”
