Springboks: 10 players to be sent home

Springboks: 10 players likely to be sent home
Rassie Erasmus will be trimming down his current Springboks squad from 45 players to 35. These are the players likely to be cut.
The Springboks will be sending back no less than 10 players ahead of the 2025 Rugby Championship.
The Springboks currently have a 45-man squad.
However, this will be cut down substantially when Rassie Erasmus names his Bok squad for the Rugby Championship.
RASSIE ERASMUS WILL NAME A 35-MAN SQUAD
Speaking to the SA media, Erasmus stated that he will be announcing a 35-man playing squad for the up-and-coming Rugby Championship.
“We’ve taken the entire group to Mbombela and will possibly only keep some squad members here until Wednesday. After the Test against Georgia, the entire squad will get a week off. We’ll probably then call in around 35 players before we play against Australia,” Erasmus told the SA Media.
Meaning, a total of 10 players will be cut from the current squad.
So, based on form, squad experience and Rassie’s current selection policies, these are the 10 players likely to be dropped ahead of the Rugby Championship.
10 SPRINGBOKS LIKELY TO BE SENT HOME
- Boan Venter
- Asenathi Ntlabakanye
- Marnus Van Der Merwe
- Neethling Fouche
- Salmaan Moerat
- Jean Kleyn
- Jean-Luc Du Preez
- Cobus Wiese
- Morne Van Den Berg
- Ethan Hooker
Furthermore, Jasper Wiese’s four-match suspension means he will miss the test match against Georgia as well as the Springboks first three Rugby Championship matches.
Meanwhile, Pieter-Steph du Toit return from injury means that the two have balanced each other out leaving Rassie Eramus with 45 players to choose from. Therefore, either way, around 10 Boks will be sent back home before the Rugby Championship starts.
