Confirmed: Newcastle set to trigger £50m release clause of player

Newcastle United told they must pay £50m to land England hero, he is desperate for a transfer
While Newcastle United do not want to do business with Liverpool regarding Alexander Isak, they could make a move for one of Arne Slot’s players.
Newcastle have missed out on Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, but he is not the only Liverpool player that Eddie Howe has got his eye on.
Another member of Liverpool’s title-winning team is on Newcastle United’s radar, with Harvey Elliott attracting admiring glances from Tyneside.
Newcastle United eye Harvey Elliott from Liverpool
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Newcastle United’s interest in the 22-year-old midfielder.
“Newcastle United are looking at Harvey Elliott,” he said.
“He ticks an awful lot of boxes for Newcastle. He can play wide right or as a number 10. He has had a fantastic Under-21s Euros.
“Money-wise, Liverpool are looking for £50million. They probably won’t get that, but it is going to be mid-40s, you would imagine.
“Good young player with a great CV. You could see how he would fit in at Newcastle United and be an Eddie Howe type player.”
He has a wealth of Premier League experience for someone so young, while he is also incredibly versatile. That has to make him appealing to Eddie Howe, who is desperate to strengthen his Newcastle United squad ahead of returning to the Champions League.
However, Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United will face a lot of competition for Elliott’s signature.
“Half the Premier League have been in touch over a move,” he said.
“There are clubs overseas that like him too. Jurgen Klopp would like him at RB. It’s a fascinating situation, and it would not be an easy one for Newcastle to do.
“Elliott wants first-team football. He is ready to move now.”
