Chiefs are believed to be keen on signing Thembinkosi Lorch from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns this transfer window.
Chiefs interested in Lorch
This publication reported on Sunday that Chiefs were hard at work behind the scenes trying to sign Lorch. This because the club management are big fans of the former Orlando Pirates’ man’s abilities. They also want to have him in the squad so he can help nurture young attackers like Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba. But until now, nothing has been agreed by the two parties.
Now as the move to Chiefs looks in doubt, according to SABC Sport, Lorch could end up elsewhere. They report that Sundowns have offered him to former coach Rulani Mokwena, who brought him to Chloorkop! It is also that Wydad Casablanca have expressed their interest in him!
Sundowns offer him to Mokwena’s Wydad
“SABC Sport has it on good authority that Mamelodi Sundowns have offered attacker Thembinkosi Lorch to Wydad Athletic Club. It’s been widely reported that the player is unsettled at Chloorkop following the departure of coach Rulani Mokwena, who had insisted on Lorch being signed this time last year from rivals Orlando Pirates for an undisclosed fee. But with Mokwena now in North Africa at Wydad, regular minutes have been hard to come by for the 31-year-old. Information gathered by the public broadcaster is that Sundowns would rather sell or agree a loan deal to Wydad than strengthen Kaizer Chiefs, who have expressed a strong interest in taking Lorch permanently.” Wrote the website.
Big blow for Amakhosi?
The deal is now looking increasingly difficult for Chiefs to complete, especially with Mokwena in the picture. Amakhosi’s saving grace could be the lack of foreign spots at Wydad as it stands. That could force Sundowns hand to send ‘Nyoso’ to Naturena reluctantly.
