Texas Gets Huge Injury News Ahead of Cotton Bowl Game Against Ohio State

The Texas Longhorns will need all the help they can get as they try to stop the juggernaut Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10 and earn the right to play for a national championship.

Texas got excellent news in that regard Sunday, as starting right tackle Cameron Williams returned to the practice field five days ahead of the program’s biggest game in decades.

“Brief window for the media to watch [Texas] practice just ended. RT Cameron Williams, who missed the Peach Bowl with a right knee injury, practiced today while we were present,” Jeff Howe of 247 Sports reported in an X post. “[Longhorns] take on [Ohio State] in the [Cotton Bowl] on Friday.”

Texas missed Williams significantly against the Arizona State Sun Devils in the quarterfinals.

The Longhorns rushed the football 30 times for just 53 yards in their double-OT victory over ASU on New Year’s Day. That lackluster effort came after the offense gutted the Clemson Tigers to the tune of 292 rushing yards on 48 carries in the previous round.

Texas must establish a strong running game against a stout Buckeyes’ defensive front early in order to keep the Ohio State offense off the field as much as possible.

OSU scored more than 40 points in both of its first two CFP games, including 34 points in the first half alone against the No. 1 seed and formerly undefeated Oregon Ducks.
